As part of the Young Storyteller Award 2022, German author Navid Linnemann wrote Die Geschwister M., a collection of short stories inspired by Theophrastus’s Characters.
This project began
with a rough English translation from the original German edition. The work and its satirical success rely on readers’ familiarity with certain political, social, and cultural phenomena. So, in addition to switching from British English to American English, it was necessary to translate various German, Turkish, or largely European concepts into equivalents that resonate with American readers.

The original text was published in the summer of 2022, followed by the English adaptation in September.
